The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck today in the Aegean Sea off the coasts of Turkey and Greece, with a magnitude of seven on the Richter scale, has risen to 12 dead, more than 400 wounded in Turkey, two dead and eight wounded in Greece.
The Anatolia Agency quoted the Turkish Emergency and Disaster Management as saying that the earthquake that struck the coasts of Izmir province caused 12 deaths and 419 injured.
Earlier, the emergency management indicated that four buildings and more than 10 other buildings partially collapsed in Izmir.
This evening, a strong earthquake, measuring 5.1 degrees on the Richter scale, struck near the Qush Adası district in the western Turkey of Eden province, at a depth of 7,73 km, and there were no reports of casualties yet.
In Greece, the Fire and Rescue Agency said that two people were killed after a wall fell on them as a result of the earthquake on the island of Samos, and eight others were injured.
