Many governments across Europe are imposing a lockdown in order to counteract the corona pandemic.
In Sweden, other measures are chosen.
In Sweden, politics in the fight against the corona virus relies on its population.
Northern Europeans have their own ideas about how to get the pandemic under control.
But the reins are also being tightened in the Scandinavian country.
Stockholm - In large parts of Europe, politicians have announced
the
lockdown
due to the latest
Corona figures
*
.
Germany
,
too
, will drastically shut down everyday life from the beginning of November.
On Thursday,
Chancellor Angela Merkel * made
her
government
statement
in the Bundestag
and announced a partial lockdown that will come into force on November 2nd.
While in the Federal Republic the measures have to be implemented by the citizens,
Sweden is
once again
taking
a
special route
in the fight against the
corona virus

Corona: Sweden relies on "should" instead of "must"
The Scandinavian country relies on common sense and the constructive
cooperation of the Swedish people
.
The government made
recommendations
and
waived restrictions
- the Swedes “should” and “must” not.
This means that the northern Europeans remain
true to
their previous line during the
corona pandemic
, although the number of
new infections
* is also
increasing sharply
in Sweden
.
In the region around
Uppsala
, a city with a high student population, and in
Skåne
, the numbers were particularly high.
In addition, the
capital Stockholm had
more and more corona sufferers.

Sweden: Stricter Corona recommendations than before
Even if a liberal path was taken in Sweden, due to the worrying development of the past few weeks,
politicians
and
authorities
decided to take
a tougher pace here too.
For example,
very strict recommendations were
announced for the
corona hotspots
Uppsala, Skåne and the Stockholm region
.
And these are quite similar to the “lockdown light” in Germany.
In Skåne, for example, all residents should
refrain
from
using public transport
and stay away from shopping centers, shops, fitness studios and other public places as far as possible - until November 17th.
Also are
group gatherings
and common sporting activities
undesirable
.
Only purchases, visits to the doctor or sports for children born in 2005 or younger are permitted.
In the student city of Uppsala as well as in Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Östergötland there should be comparable guidelines.

Sweden's
chief epidemologist Anders Tegnell
warned his compatriots before the coming weeks: "This is a
hard autumn
, and it will
probably get worse
before it's over." He is still critical of tougher measures.
"Lockdowns are not a long-term solution," said Tegnell in an interview with
Zeit Online
.
However, the
extremely high number of deaths in nursing homes
during the first Corona wave in spring caused horror
in Sweden
.
In total, almost 6,000 people have died of Covid-19 in the country so far.
Sweden: According to surveys, citizens adhere to Corona recommendations
It remains to be seen whether the Swedish government and state epidemiologist Tegnell will ultimately succeed with its strategy of relying on recommendations instead of bans.
Survey results, however, suggest that Swedes are disciplined.
According to a survey by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, 80 percent of Swedish citizens changed their behavior and implemented contact restrictions and hygiene measures during the corona pandemic.
