The American biotechnology company Regeneron announced Friday the suspension of the clinical trial of its cocktail of synthetic antibodies against Covid-19 on hospitalized patients requiring high flow oxygen but not intubated.

This cocktail of monoclonal antibodies was injected into Donald Trump in early October and Regeneron soon after filed for conditional authorization with the United States Drug Administration (FDA) so that the treatment could be widely administered to outpatients with mild to moderate symptoms.

The company did not give a clear reason for the trial to be suspended, saying only that the scientific committee overseeing the study recommended the suspension due to a "

Treatment or vaccine trials can be suspended when a participant becomes ill, while it is time to check whether the illness is an adverse effect or whether it is independent of the molecule.

Several trials have thus been suspended in recent months, then resumed (the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines).

Antibody treatment from another company, the Eli Lilly Group, was suspended two weeks ago.
