Extended partial unemployment
A last minute change, first of all.
While partial unemployment was preparing to become less generous on November 1, the government announced Tuesday the postponement of this measure to January 1, 2021. A shift due to the re-containment.
Because originally, the employees concerned were to receive only 60% of their gross salary, or 72% of their net salary.
For their part, companies were to be reimbursed up to 60% of what they paid to their employees, against 85% until then.
Part-time workers will therefore remain compensated up to 84% of their net salary (70% of their gross) and the remainder to be borne by their employer will be maintained at 15%.
The protected sectors (hotels, restaurants, events, etc.) will also see their aid unchanged until December 31, 2020.
Increase in regulated gas prices
The regulated gas tariffs applied by Engie to millions of French households will increase by 1.6% on November 1, due to the rise in market prices, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE ).

The increase would have reached 5.7% if a smoothing mechanism had not been put in place until February to limit too sudden changes.
Increase in tobacco prices
A decree of September 28, 2020 provides for an increase in the retail price of cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars and roll-your-own tobacco from November 1.
Depending on the brand, the package of 20 units will go from € 9.50 to € 10, from € 9.80 to € 10.30 or from € 10 to € 10.50.
In 2017, the government declared that it wanted the average price of a packet of cigarettes to reach 10 euros before the end of 2020. November is also the “month without tobacco”.
This is a public awareness campaign intended to encourage smoking cessation.

Beginning of the winter break
The month of November is synonymous with lower temperatures and thus marks the beginning of the winter break.
This measure freezes rental evictions until March 31.
Tenants can stay in their accommodation, even with an unpaid bill.
During this period, however, the owner is entitled to initiate eviction proceedings.
If it is ordered by the judge, it will be effective from the end of the truce.
Reduced bank fees for fragile customers
From November 1, bank charges for fragile customers will be capped at 25 euros per month for a fixed period of 3 months, from 5 irregularities or incidents during the same month.
Until now, the duration was only one month.
