At least six people were killed by Hurricane Zeta that swept across the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and also cut electricity to more than two million people in the southeastern United States.
The Louisiana Ministry of Health said, according to what Reuters reported today: “The first confirmed death from a hurricane was for a 55-year-old man in New Orleans after he was electrocuted by a fall in a power line, and this was followed by the death of four people in Alabama and Georgia due to falling trees on homes while he drowned. The hurricane halted 85 percent of offshore oil production in the Gulf of Mexico and prompted energy companies to close offshore pipelines and evacuate workers from 230 offshore platforms.
