We know that suits, shirts and pants are sewn, there are also those who say that you sew bags for them, but when did we ever hear that you sew challah?

We know that in order to mix yards, you have to put food in one of the houses in the yards, collect food from all the neighbors and put it in one of the houses.

What happens if someone wants to put a challah but it has broken into two parts?

It is written in the Talmud, in Tractate Eruvin, Daf Fa, in the name of the Amora Rav Hassada that if it began to fall apart into two parts and a person sewed it with wooden toothpicks that he inserted into it and connected it until it looked complete, it can be used to mix yards.

The commentators explain that this is a patent to prevent a quarrel.

Rabbi Chaim David Kowalski, presenter of the

digital gemara

, He explained that "this sack of food passes between the neighbors, and everyone there puts a challah in it. Do not think that maybe the challah was broken for him by mistake, maybe his wife does not know how to bake well and that is what he has, maybe he does not have any more challahs, he does not think anything, he can get upset.

The main thing is that you look complete.

What did the sages say?

It is better for peace that you sit down on Saturday evening and sew the challah, that you look whole, and that no quarrels arise.

"Dear Jew," explained Rabbi Kowalski, "we know that on Shabbat evening you have many things to accomplish, but peace is so important and precious, so do this strange task, and sew the challah."

We would say to ourselves: Whoever wants to get angry - please, am I responsible for the nerves of all the people in the world, and one can already think what is the difference between a whole challah and a broken challah, it is the same taste, so what should I treat it?

And not only that, but this is not about knowing that there is a neighbor who will get upset, but maybe there will be a neighbor who might peek into the sack to see what others have his name, and maybe he will notice that my challah is incomplete - should I sew my challah for that?

Sages tell us: Yes!

Do you want a good life?

Do you want a quiet life?

Do you want a calm life?

Sew the challah, better than having your heart sewn after it.
