With the participation of civil and youth initiatives, the “Let's Walk Together and Challenge Cancer” marathon was launched today to raise awareness of early detection of breast cancer, starting from the Al-Galaa Sports Club in Damascus towards the Al-Akram Mosque on the Mezzeh Highway to be its last stop in the Umayyad Square.
The marathon organized by the Syrian Company for Crafts (one of the Syrian Trust for Development programs) in cooperation with the Governorate of Damascus comes within the National Plan for Cancer Control and the Pink Month events that occur in October of each year, and the proceeds of the marathon will be to support those affected by the fires that have recently occurred in a number of governorates, according to Muhammad's statement. The Ministry of Health provides early detection services for breast cancer throughout the year in its hospitals and health centers through an echo or mammogram (mammogram) or CT scan according to age and symptoms, and in reproductive health clinics distributed in various governorates, numbering 943 centers, and the services include the awareness aspect of cancer and education Self-examination mechanism or clinical diagnostic examinations performed by specialized medical staff.
It is noteworthy that breast cancer is one of the most common and most dangerous types of cancer in women and in Syria, last year 2063 new cases were diagnosed in women and 103 injuries in men, and the probability of infection increases if there is a first-degree relative with breast cancer or ovarian cancer and the lifestyle is not Health, aging, smoking, weight gain and obesity.
