Every two weeks, happy people gather in the Weyarn climbing center with great anticipation.

Children in the afternoon, adults in the evening.

In their midst: Brigitte Dembinski.

Miesbach

- She heads this group called H3.

And it has now won a special award: the great sport star in bronze.

The German Olympic Sports Confederation and the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken thus distinguish sports clubs that are particularly socially committed beyond their sporting offer.

In group H3, which belongs to the Miesbach section of the German Alpine Club (DAV), such a commitment has been implemented for five years.

Because there are special people who climb and boulder here.

“What they all have in common are physical and / or mental impairments,” reports Dembinski.

The three "H" s stand for "Aiming high with a handicap".

Dembinski trained as a climbing trainer for people with disabilities.

“When climbing, people gain courage and self-confidence, including trust in others,” she says.

In order to organize the group well, it is supported by trainers provided by the KletterZ.

So they are also happy about the award with Dembinski.

The DAV section has already applied for the campaign a few times and has always received a “hands-on prize”, says the trainer.

But this year there was the main prize.

"We were informed by the Raiffeisenbank in Oberland that the jury selected the H3 climbing group as the winner."

28 sports clubs from the region applied for a “Star of Sports” with 38 projects at the Raiffeisenbank in Oberland - despite the long lockdown in spring 2020. Due to Corona, the handover had to be different.

Because a gala evening was out of the question, Manfred Klaar and Manfred Gasteiger, the deputy chairmen of the Raiffeisenbank, drove to Weyarn to present the long-awaited award, which is endowed with 1000 euros.
