The defendant was originally charged with 1 count of murder. The charge accused her of murdering her son Li Yufan (23 years old) in Hong Kong on February 22, 2019.
She was later accepted by the prosecution to plead guilty to manslaughter.

The judge bluntly stated that the defendant had a good relationship with his son and thought she would feel guilty for the rest of her life.
Although the defendant’s mental health has improved due to remand and receiving treatment, the psychiatric report concluded that she was still undergoing hospitalization and was sentenced to a hospital order.

When the son was found there was no sign of life
The case alleged that on the evening of February 23, 2019, security guards found the defendant unsteady in the underground lobby of Shan Lai House, Sin Ming Estate, Tseung Kwan O, and an ambulance was later called.
