The United States again registered a record number of daily cases of COVID-19 this Friday, with 98,583 new infections in the last 24 hours, according to the count of NBC News, the sister network of Noticias Telemundo.
It is the fifth time since October 22 that the country most affected by the pandemic in the world has set a new daily record for cases.
This Friday there were also 978 deaths
, according to the NBC count.
The last record of daily cases had been reached this Thursday, with 90,456 new infections, a number confirmed only a few hours after the United States registered 9 million cases nationwide.
A day earlier, on Wednesday, the country had also broken the record for daily infections when it recorded 80,662 new infections.
Less than half a week before Election Day,
the dismal numbers, which are climbing in more than half the states
, stand in stark contrast to President Donald Trump's repeated campaign claim that the country is winning the war against pandemic.
