The town council of Al-Hawash in the western countryside of Homs, in cooperation with the local community, began constructing a set of agricultural roads and fire lines in the town's agricultural lands.
The head of the town council, Mukhlis Daoud, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the council launched an initiative to pave a number of roads in cooperation with the local community to serve agricultural lands and to form fire lines that allow firefighting vehicles to reach various areas in the event of any fire.
Daoud indicated that the total length of the roads that are being constructed is more than 6 km, of which 2 km are in the agricultural plain and the rest are in the mountainous region.
Joseph Ayoub, a resident of Al-Hawash, stressed the importance of the initiative and cooperation with the town council in opening roads, whether in order to serve agricultural lands or facilitate the work of firefighting mechanisms in the event of any fire.
In turn, Matanius al-Shami, one of the townspeople, stated that upon completion of the construction of the roads, all the town’s lands will be fully serviced, indicating that his land in the mountain area was previously exposed to fire and there was difficulty extinguishing it because the firefighting mechanisms could not reach it. Currently, after constructing these roads, the firefighting mechanisms will reach easily To any point in the mountain area.
