Tourists on the beach in Cancun (archive image from April 2020)

The way to the steak begins with a foot bath.
"Disinfectants," says the young lady at the reception of the "Mr. Pampas" restaurant in Cancun sternly.
"Please run through the tub."
Then she points a fever gun at my temple: 36.1 degrees, I can take two steps forward.
A pipe is waiting there from which disinfectants are steaming.
"Please raise your arms and turn in the airflow."
Before I am released inside the restaurant, I have to rub my hands with alcohol gel.
Then a waiter with a mask, plastic visor and rubber gloves leads me to my table.
Welcome to the new vacation normality of Cancun.
On the dream beaches of the Mexican Caribbean, tests are being carried out to see what mass tourism could look like in times of the Corona.
Some feel like they are in a science fiction movie when they get off the vacation plane.
