Dorfen shortly before the second lockdown: "We are all in the same boat"

The lockdown hits landlords first and hardest, but retail will also suffer.

That's what Dorfen entrepreneurs say about it.

Dorfen

- Desperation among restaurateurs and increased fear among retailers - this is the mood in the center of Dorfen.

The closure of the restaurants and (largely) the hotels from Monday is a catastrophe for the operators, "but it is also extreme for stationary retail," explains Förderkreis Chairman Stefan Tremmel.

In the city centers, retail and catering are simply dependent on each other. "In the end, we are all in the same boat."

“You used to go shopping and then maybe had a coffee.

That has completely changed. ”Tremmel describes the importance of restaurants, cafés and bistros for local centers such as Dorfen in recent years.

The restrictions imposed by Merkel and Söder had one effect, he says: “People are even more afraid.” If even fewer customers come to the city centers, then the Heuschneider managing director also fears for his colleagues in retail.

"Some drive in the operating profit for the whole year with the Christmas business."

But the hosts are the first to suffer.

"I didn't sleep tonight," said Sonja Jarosch, owner of the Oggi Café, on Friday.

“It's a catastrophe for everyone - for the economy but also for the guests.” She didn't expect it.

"We have implemented all the measures, worked out hygiene concepts, installed separating discs, everyone is wearing masks - I am stunned."

Sascha Sauer, who has been running the “landlord at the market” since February 15, one month before the first lockdown, even fears the death knell.

“It's a slow dying, I don't think we'll survive this second lockdown.

All Christmas parties have already been canceled. ”It didn't go well in summer and autumn either.

"Our outside area was too small, people didn't want to sit inside for fear that they could get infected with the virus."

The corona aid is just a drop in the ocean anyway.

“We should get 75 percent of the monthly sales from last November.

We didn't have the inn back then - how should that be calculated? ”Complains Sauer.

His waitress Franziska Braun is also desperate.

"Now I'm back on short-time work - and how things will continue remains open." There are hygiene and safety concepts.

"If people meet privately, they sit in a very confined space, the risk of infection is many times greater," says Braun.

“Dorfen!

Do leb i and do kaf i! ”- this sponsorship group motto is becoming more and more important for Tremmel and his colleagues.

Shopping in local shops is now all the more an important act of solidarity.

"It is now everyone's duty to pick up something to eat from the restaurants every week."

The fact that the city center is affected by new B 15 closures including diversions in addition to the corona fear does not leave the entrepreneur indifferent.

Dorfen is also dependent on customers from the surrounding area.

"If they read something about road closures, they just go to Haag or Erding," says Tremmel, who thinks the juxtaposition of different work on the main artery is very unfortunate.

Alfred Blüml, owner of the “Zum Pollin” factory market on the Lower Market, is hoping for loyal customers.

“The new lockdown is probably necessary,” he says.

“We try very hard to be there for our customers now, orders can be placed by e-mail or by phone.

We will then also deliver to the municipality as quickly as possible.

My appeal: Buy in shops in Dorfen and not on the Internet. "

"People were already very unsettled last week," reports Robert Gauster, owner of the Gauster nursery.

We don't have to close like the restaurants, but fewer customers come to the nursery.

We will plan from week to week and of course produce less.

And we hope that the Christmas business is still going reasonably well. "

Tremmel promises that the support group definitely wants to push ahead.

Therefore, the alternative to the unusual Christmas market with ten stalls in the city center is being planned.

Can that then take place?

The chairman at least hopes so.

One thought also drives him: "I'm trying to get the shops to open until 8 p.m. during this time - if there is no Sunday shopping."
