Scottish-born actor Sean Connery, best known for his role as James Bond, has died at the age of 90, the BBC reported, citing a statement from his son Jason.
Connery, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on August 25, 1930, played James Bond since 1962 with the film “Dr.
No ”and he did so repeatedly, his last time as the British agent on“ Never Say Never Again ”in 1983.
In 1988 he won an Oscar for best actor in "Los Untocables."
In 2000 he was distinguished by Queen Elizabeth II with the title of knight and in 2014 he offered support to the referendum that sought the independence of Scotland.
He retired from acting in 2005.
