The Struggle in Corona:

After long months of anticipation, today (Sunday) the experiment on humans in the Corona vaccine developed by the Biological Institute will begin for the first time.

In honor of the significant event, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz and Health Minister Yuli Edelstein arrived this morning at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, where the clinical trial of the vaccine will begin.

Segev Harel, 26, from Kibbutz Sde Nehemia, and Aner Otolangi, 34, from Moshav Tlalim in the south, are the first two experimenters to take part in the experiment today.

One of them will receive the vaccine and the other volunteer will receive the dummy vaccine (placebo), and after receiving the injection they will remain in the hospital for observation for 24 hours.

Anar Otolangi arrived at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital for final tests before participating in the trial and said that he "feels good, is a little excited, and recommends that as many people as possible join the trial and help the entire public."

Together with him, Segev Harel arrived this morning at Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospital to receive the vaccine.

The director general of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Hezi Levy, this morning referred to the beginning of the experiment with a blue and white vaccine and said: "We have a lot of hope in cracking the vaccine.

It is clear to all of us that there is currently no cure for the disease and the vaccine opens an opening of hope.

All over the world, experiments are being done by a number of companies in stages 2-3.

We have high hopes even though we know how long it will take to produce a safe and effective vaccine that will be sufficient for the residents of the State of Israel. "

Prof. Levy emphasized that the road to vaccination is still long, but clarified that reaching the vaccine is a top national goal.

"It will take time, but the Great Wall of China was not built from a single brick," said Prof. Levy, who stressed that he "hopes that we will continue to develop and make the necessary vaccines together, and find an effective blue and white Israeli vaccine that will remove our dependence from companies around the world."
