Candidates for the post of secretary general of the international organization had until Sunday to officially declare themselves.

A sign of the importance taken in recent years by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the final list, made public on Monday, includes no less than ten names, including seven Europeans, political leaders, European commissioners or central banker.

Sweden's Cecilia Malmström, former trade commissioner, who led the difficult negotiations with the United States on a free trade agreement, is one of the heavyweights.
