As our country entered a second period of confinement, the triple assassination in Nice painfully reminded us that Christians are paying a heavy price in terrorist attacks.
Three people were in fact brutally massacred in a church for the sole reason that they were Christians.
Already, on July 26, 2016, Father Jacques Hamel had been slaughtered in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, during the mass he was celebrating.

The tributes which are multiplying everywhere in France, in these days when we are still in the shock of the beheading of Professor Samuel Paty, show to what extent our country remains attached to its fundamental freedoms, flouted by these crimes: freedom of expression, freedom to teach, freedom of worship.
Christians in general, Catholics in particular, appreciate the expressions of sympathy and solidarity addressed to them.
