Apple admits crackling issues on AirPods Pro

Some headphones in the range suffer from several malfunctions. The group promises to replace them.

Released a year ago on the fly, the AirPods Pro are already showing signs of fatigue.

Some copies of Apple's noise-canceling wireless headphones are victims of unwanted crackling, the company admits on a dedicated page.

These parasitic noises can increase in intensity in a noisy environment or during a phone call, explains the brand.

Active noise reduction - a flagship feature of the AirPods Pro - seems to be at the center of the problem.

For example, some headphones increase ambient sounds instead of attenuating them.

These malfunctions affect a "

limited

" number of AirPods Pro, according to Apple.

But the units concerned were manufactured from the launch of production lines until the end of September 2020. A sufficient number to encourage the company to set up an exchange program.

Head to the Apple Store

AirPods Pro owners who encounter these problems can therefore replace them for free for up to two years after their purchase, by making an appointment at an Apple store.

But the re-containment may complicate the process a bit, since only three Apple Stores will remain open in France this month, according to Numerama.

However, it is possible to go to an approved repairer, since these establishments are not affected by the obligation to close.

If only one of the two earbuds is at fault, then Apple will only replace that one.

Note that the white case that comes with AirPods Pro is not affected by the recall program.

The classic warranty will have to work if it encounters problems.
