Cameroon is the scene of a bloody conflict between security forces and separatist rebels in the English-speaking areas of the west and numerous deadly attacks by the jihadist group Boko Haram in the far north.

The "

improvised explosive device concealed in a bag

", and was triggered "

remotely

" thanks to a device "

composed of a motorcycle battery, a memory card and electric wires,

" said the ministry.

The attack took place early Sunday evening in a snack bar in the popular Nsam district, in central Yaoundé.

"

Nine customers (...) were injured

", according to the press release, which specifies that all are "

out of danger

".

"

Some of the injured returned home the same evening

," a police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"

Two women were hospitalized with us, one was released while the second is still interned but is doing better and better,

" a hospital source told AFP who also requested anonymity.

This was the fourth explosion of a bomb of this type in Yaoundé in just under five months.

In July, four people had already been slightly injured and two other similar small attacks were reported in June.

The capital remains spared for the moment by the two deadly conflicts which shake the country.

In the predominantly English-speaking regions of the North West and South West, clashes have opposed separatists and the army for three years has killed more than 3,000 and forced nearly 700,000 people to flee their homes.

In the Far North, populations are under attack from the jihadist group Boko Haram, created in Nigeria, but which is also increasing the number of attacks, assaults and kidnappings of civilians in border countries: Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
