As every year, the services of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have focused in recent months on the French economy, its strengths, its challenges ... In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, the 2020 edition takes on a very special flavor.
The Washington-based institution notes that France has been one of the countries most affected by the pandemic and first congratulates Paris on its response to the collapse in activity in recent months.
"The response was quick and flexible: the measures were quickly adapted to the evolution of the situation by means of three corrective finance laws between March 23 and July 3"
, write the economists of the Fund.

These measures will not be enough for the future, however, fear these experts.
"In the short term, support to businesses and affected people should be scaled up where necessary, in particular to prevent necessary health containment measures from leading to increased poverty and inequality."
