Kirchnerism ignores Elisa Carrió's move and continues with its plan to lower the majority to appoint the attorney general

The leader of the Civic Coalition asked to support Daniel Rafecas. But Kirchnerism directly wants to reform the Public Prosecutor's Office law. This Monday the debate continues in the Senate.

Was it an attempt by Elisa Carrió to "save the Republic" or was it directly aimed at embarrassing the ruling party?

His surprise request for Juntos por el Cambio (JxC) to support the appointment of Daniel Rafecas as Attorney General of the Nation found more or less echo in opposition sectors, but none in the most important: Block K in the Senate, the largest and

the one who has the key to define whether or not it is the specifications of the chief prosecutor

.

In the ruling bench, they told

Clarín

on Sunday

that beyond the opposition movement, it is not in their plans, at least in the short term, to deal with the Rafecas statement.

"First we are going to discuss the law of the Public Prosecutor's Office and only then will we see the appointment of the attorney," they

detailed in the wing of the official bloc most aligned with Cristina Kirchner.

And they completed: "

It is a matter of order."

Daniel Rafecas.

In the Government they say that he is still the candidate of the President.

What's more: for this Monday the Senate Justice Commission is summoned to continue with the discussion of two reform projects in the law of the Public Prosecutor's Office that were presented by legislators from JxC, Lucila Crexell and Martín Lousteau.

Both tried to withdraw their initiatives last week, but the ruling party did not allow them under the argument that once presented they belong to the full body.

The discussion was settled last Thursday in a vote in which

Kirchnerism imposed its majority

.

The intention of the ruling party is to advance with the treatment of the projects in the Justice commission.

Crexell initiatives and Lousteau will come as

ring finger

to the Kirchners: propose to

limit the mandate of the prosecutor -6 years Lousteau;

5 years Lucila Crexell- unlike the lifetime mandate established by current legislation.

With the treatment of the projects that did not allow the opposition to withdraw, the Kirchnerist bloc seeks, on the one hand, to make it clear that

the one that put

the discussion of the Public Prosecutor's Office law

on the parliamentary agenda

was Together for Change. "Those who presented projects on this issue were them, not us," they emphasize in the ruling party.

On the other hand, they seek to generate discomfort in the opposition bench.

If it is a game of mirrors, perhaps it is the same thing that Carrió tried when he called to support Rafecas.

In the ruling party they argue that if the mandate of the chief prosecutor is shortened "it makes no sense to maintain an aggravated majority for his appointment."

Currently, the law establishes that the attorney is appointed with two-thirds of the votes of the Senate (48 votes).

The change that Kirchnerism wants to make

is to reduce that aggravated majority to an absolute majority,

that is, to 37 votes.

The bench of the Frente de Todos has 41 own senators;

with allies it reaches 43. If the law is changed, it could appoint the attorney that it wants on its own and without negotiating with anyone.

This Monday at the meeting of the Justice and Criminal Affairs Commission -chaired by Oscar Parrilli from Neuquén- the criminal lawyer

Alberto Binder

, the Minister of the Santa Fe Court

Daniel Erbetta

and Maximiliano Rusconi, with a long career in the Attorney General and defender,

were summoned to present.

former minister Julio De Vido.

Juntos por el Cambio will only decide on Monday morning whether or not to participate in the committee meeting.

In the ruling party they indicate that they are in no hurry to give an opinion on a new law of the Public Ministry.

"We are going to wait for the advisory council that advises the President" on possible reforms in the Judiciary to be issued, they reported on the bench.

"There it will be seen if the Executive sends a project or if it is something that remains in the hands of the Senate," they added.

In addition to shortening the mandate and reducing the votes for the appointment of the attorney general, the other idea in Christianity is to give the bicameral congressional power of monitoring and control with the new law

"as requested by Lousteau."

In the opposition they distrust that the ruling party will do something else: it

will fix that the removal of the attorney will also be done with 37 votes

.

Thus, he will be able to remove the interim

Eduardo Casal

.

"And in case the Executive Power does not send a new statement to replace Rafecas, another interim could remain at the head of the attorney but from Cristina's palate," they analyze in the Juntos por el Cambio bench.

The one who sounds for that case is

Víctor Abramovich

, current attorney before the Court and former director of CELS.

In the Kirchnerist bench, they maintain that the current situation in the Attorney General's Office "shows that the law must be modified. It is unfeasible to have to search for two thirds every four years."

In an opinion column published on the Infobae site, La Cámpora senator

Martín Doñate

made the position of Christianity public.

In that text, Doñate demanded "

an urgent and urgent discussion in the National Congress

" of a "new normative text" of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

And he stressed that this law must be discussed

"before any other decision on that body," that is, the appointment of the attorney.

For a long time, the opposition has speculated that Daniel Rafecas, proposed by Alberto Fernández, "does not close" Cristina Kirchner.

The Rafecas statement was sent by the President in March, but from there it has been drafted.

Near Alberto F. they said last night:

“Yes, we continue with the idea that it is Rafecas

Cristina Kirchner, in a session of the Senate, last month.

Photo Lucia Merle.

There are versions that the vice president wants

Indiana Garzón from

Santiago

or her advisor

Graciana Peñafort

in that position

.

But in Kirchnerism they say that it is "about operations."

With the accusatory system, the power of the attorney will be very great.

Regarding Carrió's move, the ruling party ironized: "We are not going to fall into the trap of voting against ourselves. She said that we had to appoint him to save the country from Kirchnerism. Well, we have the majority in the Senate" said a Christian senator with a black palate.

According to that legislator, Carrió played to generate tensions in the ruling party.

Block K's bet in the Senate is to have a new law in February or March 2021. It will be seen if they arrive.
