The "Rhapsody duo" of academic musicians Tariq Hatim and Rahaf Shekhani put the audience of the Dar Al-Assad Theater of Culture in Lattakia in front of a new and rich musical state on an evening in which they presented their project "The Two Flute and The Runaway".

The evening was characterized by harmony and professional performance and the presentation of musical works that varied from classic to modern waltz, tango and flamingo dances, each bearing the identity of the author and the country coming from him. Orpheus and Eurydice, as well as works by the Argentinian composer Astor Piazzola, with the presentation of two solo pieces each.

The project launched by the duo "Hatem and Sheikhani" last August in a ceremony at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus. From Lattakia, he started his tour to a number of governorates, with the aim of introducing the audience to these two instruments, their musical harmony, and their ability to perform various works characterized by color and movement and to present serious music, according to Hatem, who emphasized In Sanaa's statement, it is necessary to inform the public about this type of music that is universally recognized and what the fugitive and flute achieve in terms of consistency.

In turn, Shaikhani indicated that the project is modern and stems from the fact that the duality of flute and fugitive has demonstrated a beautiful presence and harmony in the world, which prompted composers to allocate spaces and provide dialogues for them within the orchestra, expressing hope that the project will be able to make this type of music known in Syria to present Serious business for an audience that recognizes and savors the good.

For his part, Majd Sarim, Director of Culture in Lattakia, explained that the evening is part of the Ministry of Culture’s plan to activate the role of its directorates in the governorates by presenting new and varied musical styles at a high level to spread high-end music and introduce the audience to different musical genres.

It is noteworthy that Tariq Hatim holds a license from the Higher Institute of Music, specializing in flute, and a master's degree from Germany. He is a major player in the Syrian symphony and has participated in many concerts as a soloist in Syria and abroad.

Rahaf Sheikhani is a lead player in the Syrian Symphony and is a teacher of the fugitive instrument of the Higher Institutes of Music and Salah al-Wadi, and she has been a member of the Italian Association of the Runaway since 2019.
