(CNN) -

Prince William, second in line to the British throne, tested positive for coronavirus earlier this year, according to the BBC, citing palace sources.

It is not clear when exactly Guillermo was infected.

The Sun newspaper, which reported the story, said it took a seven-day break from calling and video messages from April 9-16.

The newspaper added that Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, recently told an "observer" at a function where he did not make his diagnosis public because "important things were happening and he did not want to worry anyone."

The Press Association reported that Kensington Palace, Guillermo's residence and office, did not comment on the matter when contacted on Sunday, but did not deny the report either.

CNN has also contacted Kensington Palace for comment, but has yet to receive a response.

Prince Charles, father of Prince William, had also tested positive

In March, William's father, Prince Charles, tested positive and had to isolate himself.

The 71-year-old later said he was lucky to experience only mild symptoms, adding that he "got away with it gently."

Carlos urged the world to listen to scientists and act to protect the environment in order to prevent more pandemics in the future.

'We should have been treating the planet as if it were a patient a long time ago.

Therefore, no self-respecting doctor would have allowed the situation, if the planet were a patient, to reach this stage before performing an intervention, "he said.

“The more we erode the natural world, the more we destroy what is called biodiversity - which is the immense diversity of life, plant life, tree life, everything else, marine life - the more we expose ourselves to this type of danger.

"We've had these other disasters with SARS and Ebola and God knows what else, all of these things are related to the loss of biodiversity."

Impact of the virus in the country

Royals aren't the only people at the top of British politics affected by the virus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was infected in April and was admitted to a hospital where he was administered oxygen.

Johnson later said that "arrangements" were made for his death while he was being treated and thanked the doctors and nurses for saving his life.

The UK is among the worst affected countries in Europe, with more than a million cases of coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University.

On Saturday, Johnson said the country would enter a second national lockdown in the coming days.

The Office for National Statistics estimated that 1 in 100 people in England now has Covid-19.

Of the more than one million cases in the UK, the vast majority, around 880,000, are in England, the most populous territory in the union.

The other two mainland territories of Great Britain, Wales and Scotland, establish their own health policy.

By the time its neighbor enters lockdown, Wales, with around 51,000 cases, will have passed most of a two-week 'firewall' closure, designed to prevent the situation from worsening.

Meanwhile, Scotland, which has around 1,000 cases a day at the moment, has advised residents not to travel to England and is considering additional restrictions if its national outbreak worsens.
