Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the current situation in the Nagorno Karabakh region disputed between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to a Kremlin statement reported by Sputnik, the Russian President held talks today and yesterday by telephone with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during which he discussed comprehensively issues of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict without giving further details.
Aliyev and Pashinyan had previously expressed their readiness to conduct negotiations in Moscow with the aim of stopping military actions between the two parties.
It is noteworthy that armed clashes have erupted between the Armenian and Azerbaijani forces since the 27th of last September on the line of contact in Nagorny Karabakh and adjacent areas, in the most dangerous escalation between the two parties in nearly three decades, amid mutual accusations of starting the fighting.
