Today, six people were killed and several others were wounded in an attack carried out by two gunmen in the center of the Austrian capital, Vienna.
Vienna police spokesman Harald Zorus told Austrian television: “There are six people who were killed during an exchange of fire, while others were injured and taken to the hospital,” noting that the attack targeted six neighboring areas and that many metro stations in the capital were closed.
In turn, Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nihamer said in a press statement that among the wounded in the attack, which he described as a terrorist, was a policeman, calling on citizens to avoid all public places or public transportation.
Nihamer added: "According to preliminary information, at least two people carried out a terrorist attack," noting that the police managed to "neutralize" one of the attackers while the other was still at large and were being chased.
And local media suggested that the attack killed at least seven people, including one of the attackers and one bystander.
