The People's Assembly continues to discuss the government's financial statement on the draft general budget law for the fiscal year 2021

The People's Assembly, in its eleventh session of the first ordinary session of the third legislative session, held today under the chairmanship of Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Assembly, continued the discussion of the government's financial statement on the draft state budget bill for the fiscal year 2021.

Some members of the Council asked about the mechanisms that the government will adopt to improve the living situation, according to what was mentioned in the financial statement, calling for stabilizing commodity prices in the markets for a period of at least three months and finding different financial resources for the government to achieve a balance between spending and consumption.

A number of members called for reaching a unified exchange rate between the Central Bank of Syria and the informal market, and working on returning the immigrant capital and creating a new type of bank deposit called investment deposit at a high rate and using the deposited sums to finance investment projects instead of financing them from budget items.

A number of council members pointed to the need to reduce unnecessary government expenditures, while some saw that the problem did not lie in the budget items, but rather in the mechanisms for implementing and implementing them, achieving high achievement rates in it, and creating monetary measures and policies that contribute to stabilizing the exchange rate of the lira.

Some members called for a reconsideration of the compensation estimate for olive trees and beehives that were damaged by fires in a number of governorates recently.

The session, which was attended by Minister of Finance, Dr. Kinan Yaghi, and the State for People's Assembly Affairs, Maloul Al-Hussein, was suspended until 12 noon on Tuesday.
