Latakia - Sana
The Syrian Foundation for Trade branch in Latakia today conducted a convoy of 14 trucks of citrus fruits to the markets, halls and outlets of the corporation in Damascus governorate, after the material was sourced from farmers' fields.
The branch director, Shady Dalla, confirmed in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the branch continues to import citrus fruits directly from farmers and from various regions of the governorate, as 14 trucks of all kinds of citrus have been packed and routed to the halls of other branches in the governorates.
And the implication is that the branch provides boxes for packing citrus fruits and cars to extract the material, which saves farmers big costs from the price of packages and transportation fees and contributes to breaking the commercial mediation circles and the cardamom market profit margins and saves them time and effort as this secures the material in the markets at reduced prices due to the small profit margin. What the corporation collects is limited to 5 percent of the material value and about 0.8 percent of the agricultural association.
Farmer Ezz El-Din Mansour met him on his land in the village of Ain El Laban in Latakia countryside during the harvesting of citrus fruits and packing them with boxes. He praised the initiative of the institution that provided him with car rents, commission and the price of packages and said the institution’s procedures saved us about 30 percent of the costs and the prices offered are good compared to the prices in the Al-Hal markets. The farmer, Ali Yusuf, indicated that marketing citrus fruits through the corporation saved us the expense and reduced the burdens. He said about 15 to 20 tons were marketed, which is appropriate.
