The Texas Republican Party believed that the practice of

drive-through

advance polls

, where the voter deposits his ballot without leaving his car, was illegal because there was already the possibility of depositing the ballots in a dedicated mailbox.

Nearly 10 million Texans have already voted early, more than the total number of voters who voted in 2016. Traditionally conservative, Texas has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, but the state's changing demographics could benefit Democrats.

President Donald Trump, who is seeking a second term on Tuesday, is neck and neck in the polls with his opponent Joe Biden.

"The decision

(Monday)

confirms what we have always said:

drive-through

voting

is safe, secure, legal and a sensible way for voters to vote during a pandemic,"

the county judge responded in a statement. Harris, Lina Hidalgo.

“This is a victory for voters across the country who are exercising their constitutional right to have their voices heard

,

added Joe Biden's campaign team.

The Texas Supreme Court had already dismissed a similar appeal on Sunday and other legal actions are pending in several American states.

Donald Trump regularly asserts that advance polling could result in

"massive fraud"

to the advantage of his competitor and he suggested he was ready for a long legal battle.

"As soon as the election is over, our lawyers will be ready,"

he said on Sunday.
