A subway car in Spijkenisse, the Netherlands, collided with the end of the tracks and would have fallen had it not been for a sculpture that slowed the pace.

The sculpture was a whale's tail that is part of an installation by the artist Maarteen Struijs.

The car was without passengers and, fortunately, its driver was unhurt.
