Strictly speaking, the N-question should long ago have been answered: Who will be the successor to Susanne Thomas, who will be the CSU local chairman until February of this year?
Due to the corona pandemic, the post is vacant except for the day.
Thomas resigned from the chairmanship of the local association in February, a few weeks before the local elections, for health reasons.
She was the Christian Social Party leader in Wolfratshausen for around five years.
After their withdrawal, of which their party friends were informed in advance, Thomas' deputy Günther Eibl jumped into the breach.
“Commissary”, as he emphasized at the time.
After the local elections, a permanent solution will be forged.
But then the corona virus broke out, and general assemblies at which elections have to take place are impracticable.
Eibl has been Vice Mayor since May, "and I can't fill both offices at once," he said when our newspaper asked.
"At the head of the local association is a person who is more neutral," says Eibl.
In a board meeting of the CSU this summer, he had already stated clearly that he could no longer fill the chair of the local association.
Claudia Drexl-Weile then took over the job - again only temporarily.
"Until we can organize a new election, I will continue to do so," says the former CSU city councilor.
Due to the strict infection protection regulations, her work is "above all a lot of organization in the background," said Drexl-Weile.
In view of the fragile pandemic situation, it is completely uncertain when there will be a general meeting including new elections.
"Unfortunately we do not expect that to be possible until next year," says the interim chairwoman.
In 2021, the regular election of the entire leadership of the CSU is on the agenda anyway.
Drexl-Weile: "We want to arrange the succession of Susanne Thomas."
Drexl-Weile says that she has not yet decided whether the master hairdresser from Wolfratshausen will apply for the office herself.
However, she does not want to rule it out: "If I am asked and receive support, then of course I will think about it."
The 33-year-old has gained a lot of leadership experience in party circles: for about two years she directed the fate of the Junge Union Wolfratshausen, and as vice-chairman of the CSU local association she has been involved in the board work for years.
“I also felt very comfortable in the role of deputy”, Drexl-Weile says, looking back.
Should she throw her hat into the ring, there is already at least one prominent supporter at her side: Günther Eibl.
He also let it be known that he was ready to “work again as vice-chairman for the party”.
