The rapper Kanye West is running for the office of US President.
In purely mathematical terms, he has no chance - why he could still be decisive for the election.
The
US rapper Kanye West
is politically on the same wavelength as
US President Donald Trump
.
The two have already met in the
White House
.
But since July 4, 2020 it has been clear:
Kanye West
wants to run himself.
Here you will find our news about the US election 2020 - and the results of the election.
Washington DC (USA) -
In the
2016
presidential
election, Hillary Clinton lost to her then challenger Donald Trump.
And that despite the fact that she got about three million more votes than the then newly elected President Trump.
The outcome in the
swing states * was
decisive for
Trump's election victory
.
And that
Clinton
was often narrowly defeated by Trump here - that could also have been due to a completely different candidate.
Jill Stein ran for the Greens in 2016 - with no chance of overall victory, in a country where either the
Democrats
*
or the
Republicans *
rule.
But experts still assume that it won important votes from the Democratic candidate Clinton - and thus indirectly contributed to Trump's victory.
Could this be repeated in the same way in 2020?
2020 US election: could an independent third candidate make the difference?
Most polls still see the Democratic candidate
Joe Biden *
well ahead of
Donald Trump *
.
But in one important
swing state
, the
tide may have turned
in
Trump's
favor
.
Rapper Kanye West, son of an English professor and husband of TV star
Kim Kardashian
, is considered a supporter of Trump.
But on July 4th,
US Independence Day
, he suddenly declared that he would challenge Trump and run as a candidate himself.
Since then he has stated that he felt called by God to the office of President.
And he has already voted - for himself of course:
God is so good đ Today I am voting for the first time in my life for the President of the United States, and it's for someone I truly trust ... me.

2020 US election: is Kanye West pulling key voters away from Joe Biden?
Kanye West
can only be elected
on the ballot
in 12
US states
because he only met the conditions for a candidacy in these states.
In all other states, voters must enter their names in their own handwriting.
It goes without saying that he has no chance of becoming the next US president himself.

But he could
pull
a lot of voters away from
Joe Biden
.
Because
Biden
is the candidate most African Americans seem to be voting for.
According to election experts, however, many of them could now vote for the rapper West - out of conviction or because they are disappointed by the tussle between the other candidates.
But that would give them, at least indirectly, their vote to Trump.
If it gets tight, Trump can clearly benefit from it.
