EU Heads of State and Government will meet on November 19 for a video conference summit on the Covid-19 epidemic, three weeks after their last exchange on the subject, the European Council announced on Tuesday (November 3).
The president of the institution, Charles Michel, "will
convene a new videoconference dedicated to the EU's response to Covid-19 on Thursday, November 19 at 6 p.m.
", tweeted his spokesperson Barend Leyts.
European leaders, who last discussed the virus on October 29 with a view to better coordination, had indicated their intention to meet regularly on the epidemic, as the continent faces a second wave of contaminations.
The Covid-19 epidemic has claimed at least 1.2 million lives worldwide. Europe is the region where it is progressing the fastest (more than 284,000 dead), prompting governments to introduce new measures, at the risk of provoking discontent.
