It is a new blow for public finances which continue their vertiginous fall.
To cope with the new confinement in November and hold out until the end of the year, Bercy has decided to extend the bill for the emergency plan by 20 billion euros.
After a first 2020 crisis corrective budget adopted in March, a second in April and a third in July, a fourth opus is presented this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers.
It will have to be adopted quickly by the Parliament which examines, at the same time, the 2021 finance bill.

The month of confinement should cost some 15 billion euros, according to calculations by Bercy who, the health and economic situation remaining very uncertain, however prefers to see a little wider.
Taking into account this new 20 billion envelope, the cost of the crisis since March has thus reached 186 billion euros, including 100 billion in revenue losses and 86 billion in emergency measures which will have a direct impact.
