Various topics in Syrian and Arab theater included in the new issue of the quarterly Theatrical Life magazine issued by the Theatrical and Music Directorate, including critical and research studies and readings in events, seminars and performances inside and outside Syria.
In the speech of the issue, the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Joan Jean, touched on the return of cultural activities to their glory, which was evident in the launch of a series of performances by national theater groups in Damascus and the provinces.
The issue covered a number of theatrical performances, including “Hawi Gharbi” and “Zeer Salem” at the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts, in addition to honoring the creative artists Ayman Zidan and Asaad Fadda at the Culture Festival, whose victory was renewed.
Bab Nawwaz on the Arab theater shed light on the Lebanese National Festival of Theater in its second session and the Sharjah Theater Days in its 30th session, in addition to a dialogue with the Tunisian play Zahira Bin Ammar, which confirmed Syria’s special place in her heart, and a reading in the text of the play “The Afflicted Should Resort to Judiciary” by the Kuwaiti writer Sami Bilal, winner of the Sharjah Prize for Theatrical Writing 2019, and another entitled "Arab Theater ... Questions and Opinions".
The section on studies and research devoted its pages to the vast world of scenography from Haydar Suleiman's "Sustainable Development and Theatrical Show Industry" and "Theatrical Lighting between the Designer and the Development of Design Tools" by Diaa Amayri, and Ayham Ghazali reviewed "Stations in the Emergence and Development of Theatrical Design."
The number celebrated theatrical establishments that left our world this year, such as Abd al-Rahman Abu al-Qasim and Ma'mun al-Farkh, while the issue file was devoted to street theater through two studies, the first by Dr. Hamdi Mawsli entitled “A first word in street theater” and the second by Samer Muhammad Ismail entitled “Advanced experiences in street theater in Syria “.
The magazine published the texts of the plays “Morphine” by Dr. Thaer Zain Al-Din and “Darwish” by Muhammad Al-Khaled Barghout, in addition to three plays for the first children entitled “The Good Woodcutter” by Rashad Kokesh, “Narges” by Faten Derki, and “The Great Victory” by Suhail Okla.
