The Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that monitors money in politics, announced today that the cost of the presidential and congressional elections this year is $ 14 billion, the largest amount spent on the US election.
CNN quoted the center as saying that the 2020 presidential race alone is expected to cost $ 6.6 billion in spending, more than the entire 2016 election.
Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate, is expected to be the first to collect $ 938 million until October 14th through his campaign, while President Donald Trump has raised, by that date, just under $ 600 million, according to the data.
That number is more than twice the cost of the races in the last presidential election cycle in 2016, which was $ 6.5 billion at the time.
Millions of voters in the United States are casting their ballots today in the presidential election in which Trump is competing for the Republican Party and Biden for the Democratic Party.
