(CNN) ––

A woman in labor in Florida made an important stop before going to the hospital: she went to vote.

On October 27, a man arrived at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office in Orlando.

There he requested "a vote-by-mail ballot for his wife, who was in labor in labor outside in the car," the entity told CNN in a statement.

"I've never seen anything like this, but our job is to make sure all eligible voters vote," explained Karen Briceño González, who works in the voter service department.

"Regardless of the circumstances, we will make sure they vote even if it is someone who is in labor in a car," he added.

Briceño González was working when the man approached the counter with the urgent order.

"I was helping at the counter with the early voting voters and a man gave me two driver's licenses," Briceño González told CNN.

“I said, 'No, I just need yours.

If the other person wants to come and vote, they can. '

And he said, 'No, you don't understand.

My wife is having a baby. '

The woman refused to go to the hospital until she could vote, the office said.

"I just wanted to make sure" that the woman in labor "could vote"

Briceño González said that he immediately printed a vote-by-mail ballot.

He then said he made his way to the car, where he checked on the woman.

The woman in labor, who has not been identified, was "calm" as she filled out her ballot and the poll worker waited outside, Briceño González said.

"She just thanked me and said, 'My God, thank you for making it so easy,'" added Briceño González.

There was not much conversation.

I think she was concentrating on herself, ”she said.

Before reentering the venue, Briceño González had a coveted loot to share: voting stickers.

"I gave her a 'I voted' sticker and the girl in the car," he said.

"I also gave the girl a flag and they left."

The elections office has not contacted the woman, but wished her well.

"She has not been identified, but we hope she and her baby are doing very well!" Wrote Danaë Rivera-Marasco, spokesperson for the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office, in an email sent to CNN.

Briceño González said he takes pride in his work.

Also that he was happy to be able to help the woman vote.

"I was happy to print the ballot and make sure to make it as easy as possible for her to go to the hospital," he said.

"I just wanted to make sure that, as an American citizen, I could vote."
