In total, 33 monohulls of the Imoca class (International Monohull Open Class Association, created in 1991) will cast off on Sunday (start at 1:02 p.m., to find out all about the race click here), and set off to storm the Vendée Globe, solo round the world nonstop and unassisted.
Among them, 8 new boats worth several million euros born from the pencil of five architects: Sam Manuard (L'Occitane en Provence - Armel Tripon), the duo Vincent Lauriot-Prévost-Marc Van Peteghem (Hugo Boss - Alex Thomson, Charal - Jérémie Beyou, DMG Mori - Kojiro Shiraishi), Guillaume Verdier (Apivia - Charlie Dalin, LinkedOut - Thomas Rettant) and Juan Kouyoumdjian (Corum L'Epargne - Nicolas Troussel, Arkea-Paprec - Sébastien Simon).
