Because of a political battle: Eilat will not be open to tourists in the coming days as planned
The Knesset plenum will not approve the "Non-Tourism Law" today in the second and third readings, which means that the government will not be able to declare the two destinations as a special tourist area where hotels will be able to operate, despite the Corona guidelines.
This, following a conflict over the wording of the government bill on the subject

The opening of the hotels in Eilat and the Dead Sea will be postponed for at least a week, following a political confrontation over the approval of the bill on the subject.
The Knesset plenum will not approve the "Non-Tourism Law" today in the second and third readings as planned, which means that the government will not be able to declare the two destinations as a special tourist area where hotels will be able to operate, despite the Corona guidelines.
Behind the scenes a political battle ensued following Health Minister Yuli Edelstein's refusal to make minor changes to the wording of the government bill, as the Knesset's Constitution Committee chaired by MK Yaakov Asher did after lengthy debates held this week. Additional in Israel as tourist islands, to examine the facilitation of attractions, activities and businesses in the tourist island areas as well as the facilitation for citizens who will present a recovery certificate at the entrance to these cities.
Edelstein said he refuses these changes, and he demands to bring the original wording of the proposal to the plenum for approval in the second and third readings.
Senior officials in the Ministry of Health claimed that "the tourist areas in Eilat and the Dead Sea are being taken hostage."
They noted that "if they endanger public health by adding more places to the bill that cannot be controlled there, the bill will not be put to the vote."
