The Orthodox priest shot and wounded last weekend in Lyon by a man still on the run is "
out of a coma
", a religious leader of the Hellenic community reported on Wednesday (November 4th), specifying however that the fifty-year-old is not yet out of business.

He came out of the coma yesterday (Tuesday) and started talking again today.
He manages to move a little but he has a lot of pain,
”the regional manager of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of France, Georges Vassilakis, told AFP.

According to the priest of the Saint-Georges parish in Grenoble, Nikolaos Kakavelakis, 52, "
suffers a lot psychologically
" and must be operated again soon to "
avoid infection
".

His state of health is still bad.
His relatives have not yet been able to see him,
”he says.
This priest of the Greek Orthodox Church in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, who arrived “
between the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010
” according to this relative, had submitted his resignation a month ago for “
family reasons
” and was set out in search of “
another mission abroad
”.
On Saturday, he was targeted by a hit from a sawed-off shotgun as he closed the church door in civilian clothes, and was severely shot in the chest and abdomen.
A man "who
could correspond to the description given by the first witnesses
" was arrested in another district of Lyon shortly after the tragedy.
But his custody was lifted on Sunday, nothing to link him to the facts.
