"Get ready: the scenario is evidently where we may still count the election results for days."
The US presidential election will be a tremendous game - as feared in advance.
As in 2016, the focus of attention is on these states in the so-called "Rust Belt" in the northeastern USA: In Pennsylvania, but also in Michigan and Wisconsin, it could actually take a long time before a clear result is achieved.
Here it depends on the counting of the postal votes.
In the largest of the three states, Pennsylvania, election officials had declared that they only wanted to count some of the remaining votes that night.
Hundreds of thousands of votes could not be counted until the next morning - or even later.
The president does not want to accept that - he sees himself as the winner in Pennsylvania around two in the morning on election night:
Donald Trump, US President
"We're winning Pennsylvania - with a huge amount of votes. Think about it: We have a lead of 690,000 votes in Pennsylvania. It's not even close. 64% of the votes are already counted. It will It will be almost impossible to catch up. Now there are good places in Pennsylvania that they happen to like the president. "
The Supreme Court had decided: In Pennsylvania, ballot papers that arrive after the election date also count - up to three days later

"Authorities have said most counties will count out postal ballots by Friday." Officer, Pennsylvania: "You count the first round first, then you immediately start the second. So let's see how long it takes."
Willington, Delaware
Joe Biden realized early on that there would be no landslide victory for him.
He took the opportunity early on to ask his followers for patience - and was confident about his home state of Pennsylvania:
Joe Biden, US Democratic presidential candidate
"And by the way, it will take a while to count all the votes. And we will win Pennsylvania!"
Around 100 million US citizens voted in this election either by letter or in pre-opened polling stations.
Trump announced he would go to the US Supreme Court to stop another vote count.
He left open which ballot he was referring to.
