A small number of 'battleground states' will decide the US presidential election: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Georgia.

Both candidates to win have different combinations.

Biden, who has already won Arizona and is currently in the lead in the number of large voters, must first secure victory in Nevada, where he is 2.5 points ahead with 80% of the votes counted.

At that point it could reach the fateful quota of 270 electors with Pennsylvania, where it can still hope for the postal vote, and any of the other states.

Or he could win even without Pennsylvania, but conquering both Michigan and Wisconsin where he is behind but where again he could recover thanks to the postal vote.

If Biden fails to wrest Wisconsin, then he should win in Georgia or North Carolina, where the margin of disadvantage appears more recoverable, particularly in the second state, again thanks to the 'mail vote'.

Trump, who currently has fewer voters in addition to securing Alaska, instead needs at least four of the five states still in the balance to stay in the White House.

Therefore, it should secure four states between Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia.

A mission, however, that at the moment, looking at the projections, does not appear impossible, given that the president is ahead in almost all these swing states.

With a last minute overtaking of Biden in Wisconsin.
