The head of La France Insoumise is to meet one last time on Saturday with the Insoumis parliamentarians before confirming his candidacy for the presidential election.

The suspense - if there was one ... - will finally be lifted.

According to the LFI deputy Alexis Corbière, invited Friday morning on LCI, Jean-Luc Mélenchon must express his intentions for the presidential election of 2022 on Saturday, after a last meeting with the Insoumis parliamentarians.

“At the end of this meeting, a decision will undoubtedly be made”

, assured the elected representative of Seine-Saint-Denis.

"Mouse hole"

Unless there is a big surprise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon will therefore launch this weekend for a third consecutive presidential election.

Covid requires, this new campaign will necessarily be different than the previous ones.

"We can no longer really meet"

, regretted Alexis Corbière, recalling that the

"big meetings"

were

"the characteristic of the campaigns"

of La France Insoumise.

The choice of Jean-Luc Mélenchon to declare himself in full confinement, and at the heart of the health crisis, may have surprised on the left.

The head of LFI had however warned in the summer that he would decide in the fall.

"There is a mass abstention, more and more people who are turning away from politics, so it's worth it to imagine a campaign that takes more time"

, defended Alexis Corbière.

"I am in favor of moving rather quickly so that we are the first pole of regroupment",

continued the deputy, while reaffirming that he wished

"that Jean-Luc Mélenchon be candidate"

.

The head of La France Insoumise wants him to believe that

"there is a mouse hole"

for 2022.
