There is an election atmosphere outside, and in the political system there are those who are already trying to prepare the ground for a move.

On Wednesday, MK Ophir Sofer of the right-wing party tabled a bill on the Knesset secretariat seeking to shorten the election period from 90 days to 45 days.

The explanatory memorandum to the law states that "the Knesset sets different dates for the elections in cases where the Knesset was dissolved due to the passage of a bill to dissolve the Knesset or because no budget law was passed. The State of Israel is in an ongoing political crisis."

"The purpose of this bill is to shorten the duration of the election period from 90 days to 45 days and thereby ensure the formation of a strong and stable government within a short time, while reducing the division and incitement that accompanies the election campaigns."

MK Ofir Sofer said that "the Knesset must disperse and go to the Bezeq elections, after which it will form a stable and functioning government for the citizens of the State of Israel.

During this period, and in view of the need for stability, the election campaign should be shortened, waste of money should be avoided and the social damages caused in every election should be shortened.

In addition, the decisions made in an election campaign at this time may be politically biased, and as a result even dangerous for the health, economic and social future of Israeli citizens. "

Sofer will meet this week with Election Commission CEO Orly Adas and talk to her about the possibility of advancing the law.

The law of cameras is back

Meanwhile, the Cameras Law returns to the Israeli public this week.

As a lesson from the US election, MK Ariel Kellner and MK Katie Sheetrit will place the ballot camera bill on the Knesset table today. MK Ariel Kellner said that "election forgeries and irregularities are a real danger to the democratic process so that we do not reach a state of America, and from drawing lessons from many irregularities that have been discovered here as well, and most of all: for the future. The bill will include cameras throughout the election process at all polling stations and throughout the day, including counting, closing the double envelope loophole - full transparency "All parties from the moment of the crucifixion to the counting and typing of the results, and full transparency of all the protocols from all the polling stations. I expect 120 MKs to support this bill."
