Behind these cases we find "varied profiles, radicalized people, but also people who suffer from mental disorders or who send a message without measuring its seriousness", as well as "young people", notes the Paris prosecutor, Rémy Heitz.

At the national level, nearly 200 investigations were opened during the last week of October for apology for terrorism, death threats, insults or incitement to hatred in connection with the beheading of Samuel Paty on October 16 in Conflans-Sainte. -Honorine (Yvelines).

The Chancellery, which confirms this figure advanced by France Info, specifies that it is "

to be apprehended with caution, insofar as there is no national point of comparison

" and did not wish to update this assessment.

It's exploding!

There are many threats that target public figures, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, several ministers, deputies, teachers

", details a judicial source, which lists many more or less direct allusions"

to threats of beheading

”.

70 surveys

At the Paris prosecutor's office, which centralizes a large part of the proceedings, around 70 investigations were opened, in particular for "

apologia for terrorism

" and "

threats of death or violence

" since the beheading of the professor of history and geography who had shown caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad to his students during free speech lessons.

"

Any complaint or report is automatically the subject of an investigation,

" assures AFP the Paris prosecutor, Rémy Heitz.

"

As soon as there is a terrorist connotation or an apology for terrorism, the facts are systematically reported to the national anti-terrorism prosecution

," he said.

Behind these cases are "

various profiles, radicalized people, but also people who suffer from mental disorders or who send a message without measuring its seriousness

", as well as "

young people

", notes the prosecutor.

Educational measure

Monday, during the tribute paid to Samuel Paty in schools, the National Education has identified "about 400 violations of the minute of silence, in sometimes light, sometimes heavy", said Friday morning on RTL the minister Jean-Michel Blanquer.

"

Each of these violations is followed by disciplinary proceedings

" and sometimes "

criminal proceedings

", he said.

Some students whistled during the tribute, others laughed, relates the Evry prosecutor's office, which has received "a

lot of reports

" for behavior which does not however constitute a criminal offense.

In Paris, a 15-year-old schoolgirl was indicted for "

apologia for terrorism

" after having overwhelmed Samuel Paty.

She received a penal reparation, an educational measure which provides in particular for the minor to reflect on his offense.

In a high school in Caluire-et-Cuire (Rhône), a 15-year-old pupil threatened a teacher to "

cut off his head

".

In Gisors (Eure), a 12-year-old girl shared a photo of the professor's decapitated head with her classmates.

Fourteen procedures were opened Monday and Tuesday against minors for "

apologia for terrorism

" in schools on the sidelines of the tribute, according to the Chancellery.

In the aftermath of Samuel Paty's death, the Minister of Justice asked the Attorneys General for the utmost firmness in dealing with behaviors inciting hatred or calling for the commission of crimes or offenses, more particularly if they target teachers, public service or law enforcement agents.

Substantial sentences fell this week: six months in prison and ten years of ban from French territory Wednesday in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise) for a 34-year-old Algerian who had "glorified" the assassination of Samuel Paty , and one year in prison with immediate imprisonment Thursday in Versailles (Yvelines) for a man who had threatened with beheading a professor of history and geography of Isère.
