The leader of Insubordinate France, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, presidential candidate in 2012 and 2017, announced on Sunday that he was proposing his candidacy for 2022 subject to collecting a popular investiture of 150,000 signatures.
Invited to the TF1 newspaper after a meeting with parliamentarians from his movement this weekend, the 69-year-old deputy has formalized the information, an open secret for several months.

The drastic figure is the name of the game.
He now wants to display himself as the main opponent of Emmanuel Macron, whom he believes is sliding his presidency into an authoritarian regime.
In 2012, in the first round of the presidential election, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had gathered 7 million votes, or 19.58% of the votes, in fourth position behind Emmanuel Macron (24.01%), Marine Le Pen (21, 30%) and François Fillon (20.01%).
