Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said today (Sunday) that the next US administration should take the opportunity to "compensate" for the mistakes of President Donald Trump, following the victory of Joe Biden.
He said, "The heroic resistance of the Iranian people has proven that the policy of maximum pressure is doomed to failure."
"The American people have opposed Trump's harmful policies," said Rouhani, quoted by Iranian media.
"The next US administration should take the opportunity to make up for past mistakes. Iran supports a constructive dialogue with the world."

Biden has promised to return to the nuclear deal that Trump withdrew and signed when he was vice president - if Iran returns to fulfill its role.
Tehran has returned to enriching uranium at an increased rate, but said the steps it has taken since 2018 are reversible, if its interests are respected.
However, Biden wants any return to the agreement to be a "starting point" for further negotiations to strengthen the nuclear agreement and address other issues.
Iran's leaders are currently ruling out talks on issues other than the nuclear program, such as Tehran's missile arsenal and regional operations.
"The American people have had their say. And the world is waiting to see if the new leaders abandon the destructive law-breaking bullying of the outgoing regime - and agree to multilitarism, cooperation and respect for the law. Actions are more important than anything," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter.
