Following the Danish government's announcement of a new corona virus mutation discovered in minors, the Ministry of Health clarified today (Monday) that Denmark is currently known for a small number of patients infected with the mutation, and that they are isolated.

"The likelihood of a patient carrying the mutation arriving in Israel is low," the ministry explained.

"At the same time, we are taking extra care."

It was also reported that "the Ministry of Health, together with the Home Front Command, has issued a list of passengers who have returned from Denmark, and we will contact them from this morning, to perform a special sampling for the corona and test the mutation."

According to the Ministry of Health, "Until the results are received, travelers from Denmark are asked to enter isolation - Denmark has entered the list of red countries requiring isolation."

The Ministry of Health's clarification comes against the background of Denmark's announcement that it must destroy between 17-15 million mines, after they were discovered to be carriers of a new corona virus mutation.

Denmark, which is considered the world's largest producer of mink furs, has announced that the mutation has been detected in at least 1,080 farms across Denmark.

At a press conference held yesterday, Danish Prime Minister Mede Fredricsen stated that the spread of the mutation could harm the effectiveness of a future vaccine for corona, and therefore the carrying miners should be killed.

"This is a necessary and inevitable step," she said.

The Danish police chief, Thorkild Fogda, said the killing process would begin as soon as possible.

However, he acknowledged that the massive treatment of millions of mines spread across thousands of farms across the country could be complex and time-consuming.

According to the World Health Organization, the corona virus is spread mainly among humans, but there is evidence of infection through animals, including cats and dogs.

As for the miners - additional cases of infection have also been observed on farms in Hold and Spain.

"Minkers who turned out to be infected by humans later spread it among other humans," the organization said.

The Danish health authorities have concluded that the mutation that has been discovered cannot be inhibited by antibodies, unlike the known virus.

"Studies show that the mutation in the virus could affect vaccine candidates," warned Denmark's health minister.

"This is a threat to the development of vaccines against the virus and therefore it is important that a national effort is made to eradicate the phenomenon."
