83-year-old psychoanalyst: what's behind our fear of the coronavirus

For 83-year-old Dietmar Schmeiser, the Covid 19 pandemic is not the first major crisis. Here he talks about processing personal lows and explains how we should deal with global problems.


Dietmar Schmeiser was born in Buchen in 1937.

He spent his childhood and youth in Karlsruhe.

In the 1960s he studied psychology at the University of Mainz, where he also received his doctorate.

In 1978 he completed his training as a psychoanalyst in Heidelberg.

He was involved in professional politics for years, including in the German Psychotherapist Association, and still works in his own practice in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse.
