A four-month-old baby was hospitalized last night (Tuesday) at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, suffering from a severe head injury and internal injuries.
The baby was brought to the hospital by his parents, and the teams contacted the welfare authorities and the police, who opened an investigation.
The baby's father was arrested at the end of an investigation at the Ashkelon police station, which continued into the night.
According to the police, during the investigation, additional findings came up, following which it was decided to arrest the father and interrogate him with a warning.
The baby was left in the hospital for further tests.

In August, a resident of Ashkelon was arrested on suspicion of abusing his daughter, a four-month-old baby.
This, after receiving a report from Barzilai Hospital about the suspicion of abuse, when a medical examination conducted on the baby revealed that she was suffering from injuries to her head.
Details of the case were also passed on to city welfare officials.
Two weeks earlier there had been another case of abuse of a baby in the South.
So, a couple of parents on suspicion of severely abusing their three-month-old baby son - just two months after a similar arrest.
They too were arrested following a report from Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon on suspicion, after a medical examination revealed that the baby was suffering from severe injuries to all parts of his body.
The parents were taken for questioning by the Ashkelon police and a report was given to the city's welfare officials.
