The licensed areas for cultivation with wheat crops in the southern countryside of Idlib, liberated from terrorism, reached 200,000 dunums, a significant increase over the current year’s plan, which included cultivating 15,000 dunams.

Khaled Al-Daher, head of the Idlib Farmers Union Branch, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the facilities recently provided by the government increased farmers ’requests to expand wheat cultivation in areas liberated from terrorism, indicating that the Union’s branch worked to secure production requirements such as seeds, fertilizers and fuels and to facilitate the process of obtaining the necessary agricultural licenses. For transplant operations.

Al-Daher pointed out that these licenses were transferred, after being audited, to the Seed Multiplication Branch, to grant farmers 25 kilograms of wheat for each dunum of watering in exchange for 20 kilograms of wheat per dunam of Baal.

Al-Daher explained that during the current month, the number of diesel applications for agriculture has been increased from 8 to 30 per month, as two liters per dunum of wheat and one liter per dunum of barley are distributed for the purpose of plowing the land and preparing it for cultivation.

Al-Daher indicated that after the completion of the plowing, the Union branch will distribute diesel to farmers who wish to cultivate their lands with wheat and barley, as 6 liters per dunum of wheat will be distributed in exchange for 4 liters per dunum of barley, indicating that the cultivation of barley in the liberated countryside of Idlib Governorate began in the rain-fed lands. Meanwhile, land preparation operations continue to grow wheat.

Al-Daher pointed out that there is currently a headquarters for a peasant association in Khan Sheikhoun, which will be converted into a headquarters for the union in Idlib governorate, in addition to the presence of two fuel stations owned by the Peasant Union, indicating that work is underway to restore the farmer's association buildings in the liberated countryside in order to resume its work in providing the necessary services to farmers. .
